Alejandro Garnacho was subject to a telling off from Cole Palmer moments after Manchester United's winning goal against Chelsea on Saturday.

What happened?

The incident occurred after Matheus Cunha netted the sole goal of the match in west London, courtesy of Bruno Fernandes' 18th Premier League assist of the campaign.

Alejandro Garnacho failed to properly close down Fernandes before the United skipper was able to whip the ball into the box for Cunha.

Why it matters for Alejandro Garnacho

The 21-year-old has managed eight goals across all competitions this term, with just one coming in the Premier League, and has faced mounting criticism for his lacklustre performances of late.

Having gone without a league goal since October, Garnacho has sparked controversy on social media after recently deleting all references to Chelsea from his TikTok page.

What comes next?

The youngster has also faced speculation that the Blues may look to offload him, after being placed on the transfer list by former boss Ruben Amorim at Manchester United.

Alejandro Garnacho had spent five years at Old Trafford before his £40m switch to Chelsea, and has admitted to doing "bad things" when he lost his place in the starting line-up at United.

On Saturday, Garnacho spoke to Premier League Productions, saying: "I remember that, in the last six months, I was not playing like before at Manchester United."

The Argentine opened up about his final months in Manchester, ahead of Saturday's fixture, and said he has no regrets about his move to Chelsea.

Saturday's defeat was the fourth consecutive loss for Liam Rosenior's side, who now find themselves seven points adrift of fifth-placed Liverpool.

The Blues risk dropping rapidly down the table without an urgent upturn in results, and are currently level on points with Brentford and Bournemouth, and just a single point ahead of Brighton and Everton.
